Transformational Housing | Changing Lives

Who We Are

We focus on partnering with those willing to make changes in their life to become self-sufficient. We show them the path to wise, healthy decisions – helping them understand the consequences of a bad decision. BUT, they are adults, and once we show them the path, we let them make that decision.

Valley LIGHT utilizes three core principles through this journey
I. Sustainability
II. Responsibility
III. Accountability

We currently have transitional homes for single women, single women with children and single men.   We also operate a social enterprise for women's enrichment -     Valley SHINE.

We are not a rescue ministry! We partner with several great Christian groups here in our community that serve those in need of immediate rescue from their circumstances – we direct people in need of rescue to these organizations, and we encourage our community to financially support these organizations.

Statement of Beliefs

The gospel of the kingdom is the whole story of Jesus:
  • The Messiah, the king of Israel, sent by the Father, has come
  • He fulfilled God’s promise that through Israel all the nations would be blessed
  • He has died so our sins are forgiven • He has risen, so death is defeated
  • He has given us direct access to the kingdom of God, the rule of God in our lives through the Holy Spirit
  • He has taught us how to live
  • He has commanded us to obey
He has invited us to join him in proclaiming and establishing his kingdom in all the world:
  • Announcing God’s forgiveness
  • Demonstrating God’s love
  • Upholding God’s justice
  • Inviting others to join his kingdom
  • He has commanded us to “go and make disciples of all nations”

We cannot limit Jesus to being our Savior but not our Lord and King. When we say yes to Jesus, we say yes to his forgiveness, but we also say yes to his commands and yes to his kingdom. We merge our stories into his story and join the unfolding plan of God to establish and grow his kingdom. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10 We must renounce our citizenship in this world and irrevocably enter his kingdom.

Believing in only the beginning!

HISTORY

The summer of 2016 was exceptionally HOT. While working at a downtown soup kitchen, we met a woman who was living in her car because she was unable to find a place to live, even though she was working. God prompted us to ‘stand in the gap’ so the woman would have a place to live. God then provided a house that needed some work, but was vacant and readily available. Within a few weeks we made repairs and painted the entire house. Only a few days after opening the doors to the first guest, there were women in all of the rooms along with a house supervisor!

Thus began our journey of walking alongside people in need. Friends and strangers heard about the home (we named it Trinity House) and asked to join us in walking alongside those in need. Since that time, guests have come and gone - some leaving successfully, and some refusing to make changes in their life.

Throughout this journey God has faithfully provided for all of our needs, exactly when needed. He grew the organization into what we call Valley LIGHT (Living In God’s Hope & Truth), and now we operate transitional homes for women and men, and a social enterprise called Valley Shine.

Our mission is to walk alongside people in need. We believe that lives will be transformed when we love our neighbor as Jesus Christ demonstrated to us, and then commanded us, as His followers. Our purpose is to show others the path to Living In God’s Hope & Truth. Through this process we utilize the core principles of sustainability, responsibility, and accountability.

Often when people hear our story, they congratulate us as if we have done something amazing. However, no soldier is congratulated for being obedient. We are simply doing as our Lord has asked us, realizing that all of our time, talents, and resources belong to God. He has earned our trust because He paid the price of love and sacrifice. God’s Son, Jesus Christ, died for each and every one of us. He rose again so that we too can be free from sin and death. It is simply our honor to accept His invitation to walk alongside others and show the path to life.

Will you accept the invitation?
